Building humane communities one partnership at a time...
We have been dreaming of this for a long time, but we are now about a month and a half out from Vietnam's first national animal welfare conference. The conference will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from September 13-14 at the Hotel Continental in District 1. Humane Society International is generously funding the event through the Kairos Coalition, but the conference is being entirely organized and hosted by Yêu Động Vật (YDV / Animal Lovers), a domestic animal advocacy and rescue group based in Ho Chi Minh City.
The purpose of the conference is to convene representatives from domestic animal advocacy organizations, as well as participants without organizational affiliation, who want to discuss farm animal, companion animal, and wildlife issues in Vietnam, to learn more about animal welfare advocacy and activist strategies, and to network with other domestic animal activists.
The conference will offer a number of educational and networking opportunities, including presentations by domestic and international speakers, panel discussions, and advocacy working groups that will brainstorm upcoming campaign ideas. There will also be a film screening and vegan buffet.
The conference committee hopes to welcome representatives from YDV, Hanoi Pet Rescue, Vietnam Animal Welfare Association, Animal Rescue & Care - Vietnam, Asia Canine Protection Alliance, Humane Society International, Animals Asia Foundation, Environment & Animal Society of Taiwan, Vietnam’s National University of Agriculture, and HCM City Agricultural University, among others. Travel scholarships have been provided to ensure activist representation from Da Lat, Da Nang, Ha Noi, and Nha Trang.
