1st Vietnam National Animal Welfare Conference

We have been dreaming of this for a long time, but we are now about a month and a half out from Vietnam's first national animal welfare conference. The conference will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from September 13-14 at the Hotel Continental…

Planting the Seeds of Compassion Scholarship

Kairos Coalition’s Planting the Seeds of Compassion Scholarship has been assisting 74 children of low-income families in Nam Thang village, Tien Hai District, Thai Binh Province, Vietnam since 2012. The pilot program will last five years (2012 - 2017), and is sponsored by the Kairos Coalition and other generous supporters. About half of 74 beneficiaries are members of the local Catholic parish, but the rest of the beneficiaries are non-Catholic children. We provide each Middle…

Vietnam Factory Farming Workshops....coming in March!

Just wanted to share an exciting project that Kairos Coalition is currently working on.  During the week of 4-8 March, we will be working with Humane Society International and Yeu Dong Vat to conduct a series of workshops aimed at developing a deeper and broader public awareness about the disastrous implications of rapid industrialization of the animal agriculture sector in Vietnam.

1) During the afternoon of March 4th and 7th, we will be conducting information awareness…

Restored Hope Foster Home, Part II

Many of you will recall our plan to establish a communal foster home for dogs and cats rescued off the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam....a place where these scared and injured animals can find love and be prepared physically and temperamentally for eventual adoption into suitable forever homes.

The Restored Hope Foster Home opened last spring in part through a grant of $1,500 in March 2012.  We followed up with a subsequent grant of $3,500 in August 2012 and recently…

Bob, Thank you for the comment. This is my first time in any sort of comment / blog role so I'm slow to understand the dynamic/process. I will stay tuned for your program's development and see how to relate. On a personal note, I saw your headgear in your photo and decided that would be the best garb to where for my photo.

Hi Bob,

It's great to know your site. Your Humane Edutainment program sounds very exciting, though it is not clear yet about what you would do in the program. Perhaps, adding a brief summary/description of the program on this site would help new members.

I will surely come back and share your program.

All the best to you & Casey!

I was born in  North Vietnam and grown up in South Vietnam. That time I haven't seen any restaurant that served dog meat. In 1975, I left the country and settled in California since then. After the communists took over, so many changes took place. One of them is this treatment of dogs and dog meat restaurants. It is one of the things that made me feel saddened for the country. I am an animal lover, I will do what I can with your program.
